I recently installed Mandrake 9.2 DE and I'm now trying to connect to the Internet, but that doesn't really work . I want to edit the file /etc/hotplug/blacklist and add the line "dabusb" (I read this in a tutorial about installing my modem in linux) but I can't save the file afterwards, it says I don't have writing entrance. There's only one user, so how can I edit it and then save it?
You have to edit the file as root.
From a terminal, type
su
then enter your root password.
Type kwrite in your terminal, it will open a text editor and you should be able to edit and save your file.
