What are the differences? Before I switched to Mandrake, I was running RHL 9, and was using yum to updated my system, I later installed apt-get and started using that.
What exactly is urpmi? and how does is it differ? The best thing I loved about apt-get was that it solved depends for me, I know I can use apt-get with Mandrake, but there does not seem to be a huge list of repositories for Mandrake, will urpmi repositories work with apt-get? will urpmi auto solve depends issues?

Thank you.
Yes, urpmi will automagically solve dependancy issues, once it's configured properly. Go to the link below and it'll get you set up, it's very slick. Once it's set up, you can do it from the command line, or from within Mandrake Control Center / Software Management.
ok, after spending the last two hours setting up urpmi I am a little upset.
It simply takes entirly too long to download the 'list' from these mirrors. I am on a cable connection, and for each site I added using easy urpmi it took around 15 minutes each to download the list headers.
Is there a way to setup apt-get or yum on mandrake 9.1 ??? I rather enjoyed that little app when I was using RHL 9, and it took only seconds to update my lists from over 15 different mirror sites.
You should definitely try another mirror. It only takes me a few seconds to download the lists. And urpmi is, in my experience, much superior to apt-get, especially in terms of ease of use. Once you add plf and texstar, it provides just about any application you can think of.
The worse think I found was that I couldnt drop a more complete version of hdlist.cz into /var/cache/urpmi/partial/ after my connection failed. Anyone know if the wget mode can resume, unlike curl?
