Upgrade to Mandriva LE 2005

Hi there,

Currently running Mandrake 10.1 Download edition and interested in upgrading to Mandriva LE 2005.

Question is :-

I`ve spent many month`s configuring my current setup, will I be able to upgrade without problems, has anyone else attempted this with success.

I really don't want a fresh install each time a new version comes out.

Hope people can advise

Mike

My very simple advice is this - if your system does everything you want it to do, do not even think about upgrading. Save yourself the trouble. Just get on with the work you want to do. Are you lacking something that LE offers? Probably not. Then leave well alone or install on another partition and tinker when you are bored. Hope this makes sense.

I second that commotion.
I actually rolled back to 10.1 after using LE2005 for a while.

thanks for your opinions, I think I`ll leave it alone then
Theres no particular reason really, apart from having the latest release.

I take it mandrakeonline will keep feeding me updates for a long time to come?

As you can see from here http://www.mandriva.com/security/productlifetime , 10.1 will end its desktop updates on September 31st and its base updates until February 28 2006. You got some time

Before you stop considering the upgrade

I upgraded from mandrake 10.1 and I too had a lot of things configured that I was concerned that I would loose and the upgrade went fine. No issues whatsoever...

Well I went ahead an upgraded anyway, could`nt resist it. All went well, apart form needing to re-install nvidia drivers (expected that) but I do have one problem now someone may be able to help me with :-

Transfering files via Samba has gone really slow, around 150kb/s, before it was 1.5mb/s or greater.
