Well, there's a full version of mandrake 9.2 on the cover dvd of the december edition of Linuxformat mag that arrived yesterday morning.
Done a few searches etc, to see what people think of it - some good comments, some not so good.
As it happens, I've tried to see if the dvd will boot to see if I can just do a straight upgrade, rather than a clean install, but for reasons that I don't understand, the dvd (which is supposed to be bootable), wont boot. Which is curious, as the install of 9.1 that I've got at the moment is from the workstation dvd of 9.1 powerpack. So I know that I can normally boot a dvd.
Still, I guess I'll wait until the 9.2 dvd powerpack is available. I'm not in any rush, and as the dvd's work out at about £40 including postage, I reckon that's what you could call good value for money - plus It's my way of shoving a little of my "hard earned" at mandrake. I reckon that the products worth that easily.
And if you go to the "plf" site and follow the instructions for "easy urpmi", the extra eye candy from both the plf and texstar it excellent (it always makes me laugh to see the kde login icons bouncing on the screen
just a shame that I can't make it play that excellent guitar break from metallica's enter sandman instead of just the default kde login jingle).

John
