updating packages question


what does mandrake use to update its packages, like fedora/red hat has yum and up2date..what's the program and what is the location of the config file where you can edit the urls of the servers it connects to get the updates...I don't use mandrake but a friend of my asked me and I'm just trying to find a solution..thanks

the program is urpmi, the config files i don't know where are.

Question URPMI

If you want to know where the actual files for the URPMI app are, open a console window and write locate urpmi . It wqill tell you where the application and related files are located.

If what you want to do is to mange your soruces. it is better to do that from the mandrake control center though....

Updating Packages

You can also try checking out:

http://urpmi.org/easyurpmi/

That has a easy to follow step by step direction sheet for getting URPMI setup with your system if you dont have it.
