Unhappy Uh oh I have another one, users, root and sound

Hello again forum

It seems I am not having very much luck at the moment....

I have gone into Mandrake Control Center, logged in as root, and gone in to system and users and am getting the message cannot lock user lib, file /etc/ptmp or /etc/tmp exist.

and anywhere else i go i get the message drakconf: the modifications in the current module will not be saved.

I Am so sorry to be posting all these issues, I have looked all through my linux books and everything and don know what to do.

Amy

I've also had this thing with the /etc/ptmp (and another file with a similar name) being present. I read somewhere that this is bug, and it is no problem to remove it - I've done this myself a number of times without any repercussions.

I've also encountered this repeatedly. I'm fairly sure it's a bug. In fact, I've become pretty disenfranchised with the poor quality of Mandrake configuration tools; usually it's easier to just do things the old-fashioned way from the command prompt.

Great! thanks guys, I thought I broke it :-) I can handle it being a known bug.
