I am a little distressed. I am not new to linux, yet I must admit it has been a short while, and most commands are now forgoten. But they are comming back.
Anyways, since the last time I had linux on my PC, I have switched my TV card. Last time I had a ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder Pro 128MB which to the best of my knoledge is not supported at all. I somehow got it working once using AVVIEW.
Anyways, Now I got a Compro Videomate Gold Plus. It uses a Phillips saa173x chipset (saa1734hl I belive specifically for this card). Which is nativily supported in the 2.6 kernel, and well supported supposibley with Mandrake 10.
When I installed Mandrake 10, I ran DrakeTV and it went through some things, and install xawtv. It also had TVtime Installed. When I run TVtime no image is displayed, except a blackscreen, and it closes after 20 seconds. Xawtv with some work, display the TV, but has no audio. Yet my speakers work, the startup runs fine. Also the TV is poor quality and when fullsizing the screen, only makes it a little larger. So not exactly ideal.
Then I remembered last time with my old card, about reading, and researching mythTV. I am currently trying to get mythTV to work. But I am having problems. urpmi states that its installed, as well as its dependencys, but I cant seem to get it to start, let alone its not showing in the menu. Plus some other weird things are going on. I attempted to install it from source, and spent half hour while it compiled, but after still no go.

I also breifly tried to install FreeVo and AVView. FreeVo just didnt install right, and AVView wont start or make or configure...
Anyways, I am curious if anyone has had luck installing and getting mythTV to work on Mandrake 10 and possible with saa173x chipset.
Also does anyone have suggestions on Getting this chipset to work at all, and relitivily painless?
I have spent the better half of the day doing this, and I really can't afford to spend another for a while, and I want my TV. =P
Thanks in advance.
