'Tchah, takes the best minutes of our lives, sets us to mildly disagreeing and then disappears without a 'by your leave'. The youth of today, in my day blah blah blah'
Sorry for this but I thought that like other boards I have used you post a message then go back 3 days later and there might be a reply, I didnt realise you people were so on the ball and would answer right away, sorry again.
Incidentally I am probobly older than you all put together, the original wrinkly.
I have now unpacked the files but when I do 'maka, i get a stream of errors that mean nothing to me so am not much further nearer to getting my modem to work. I still have to use win xp for the internet, sob.
I cannot cut and paste as i have to use windows to get connected and cant save from mandrake to ntfs drive, nor can i email it to myself as i cant get the modem working :-( :-(
Well the readme says to edit the makefile line kernel include=/usr/src/linux to reflect my path im MD, so i changed it to = /usr/include.
One error says something like should not point direct to kernel files.
Another says something about a mod.h file
hope this helps, i will try to post more info tonight when i get home from work.
Hi,
OK heres a brief run down on the output:
you should not include /usr/include{linux,asm}/header files directly for the compilation of kernel.
glibc now uses kernel header files from a working kernel. These files are glibc internal and may not match currently running kernel. They should only be included via other system header files. When compiling make sure to use the compiler option to use the correct include files.-I/lib/modules/'uname-r'/build/include instead of /usr/include/linux.
