If you are using Mandrake 10.1 Community the KDE/xscreensaver integration is quite badly broken. It's also broken in 10.1 Official if you have not installed any of the updates.

If you're using 10.1 Community, I strongly reccommend that you get hold of 10.1 Official, as there are no security, bugfix or other updates issued for the Community version. Once you have 10.1 Official running, use the Mandrake Control Centre Update applet (under software Installation) to check for and install any updates for packages installed on your system.

I am using MDK 10.1 download edition and I have already update. It seems there are many bugs in this distribution. I have an other problem with konqueror and the plug-in loader (nsplugin) there is no way to install it...

I still have no idea on how fix the screensaver problem. when I leave the computer it starts (this is OK) but the screen remain black, I am using a GL screensaver, so I thought the problem could be to install the nvidia driver, but it was not the right way. I still have the pb...

Ciao

OK everything fixed

I was right the first time, the GLX screensavers needed the GLX module loaded to work
so I installed the new nvidia driver and added the glx module in XFreeconfig file...
now every work

by the way I had a problem with the nvidia driver, the X server failed to start, this problem was caused by the order the module were loaded, (I founded the solution in the nvidia forum) so to force the nvidia driver to load I added a new the line in the /etc/modprob.preloads. This line simply reports the driver that needs to be preloaded, in this case nvidia

thats it
