Screen problem in Mandrake 9.1

There is a small square dead center of the screne that I can not find out how to get rid of. The square is black and white made up of two smaller black squares and two smaller white squares. The square is only a few pixles in size but is rather annoying.

Any ideas on how it got there and how to get rid of it.
I looked in /home/usr/Desktop and nothing is there.
