Newbie here.... Because I am tired of having my hands tied with windows os, and because I'm a junior Computer Science major, I have started using Linux. The only thing that I can say about it is why I never decided to start using it earlier. I absolutely love it!! But I have run into a snag that I haven't been able to solve myself. I started using urpmi and rpmdrake to keep my system up to date and to also pull down new software. I have been using Easy Urpmi's website to find mirrors to accomplish this. Everything works great except the "contrib" mirrors. I have tried up to 6 different mirrors and I always get the same error. The error I get is as follows:
[root@localhost root]# urpmi --auto-select
medium "primarycontrib" uses an invalid list file:
mirror is probably not up-to-date, trying to use alternate method
Everything already installed
[root@localhost root]#
Does anyone know what this error is trying to tell me, and how I can fix it? URPMI is kind of useless for pulling down new apps if I can't resolve all the dependencies, some of which are on the contrib mirrors.
Thanks
Mike
