Problems with boot

Hi,

I have installed Mandrake Linux on my computer with 1 hard drive and just Linux. Now the problem is when I boot this without the boot disk I get the following error:

L 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99

and when I put the boot disk in then it goes through.

Someone told me on the post that I could fix this through the boot disk once I' m in but I have no idea where to go.

Can some help me with this.

Why not? It takes no more than 15-20 minutes and you can improve the result based on your new experience.

Good luck!

I got this exact same thing when an install fubar'd before it got to install the bootloader. I re-installed and the bootloader worked fine (Linux still din't boot, separate problem on a separate thread). Seems like a re-install is the thing to do...

I tried reinstalling and putting the MBR as the location to stor the bootloader. But still the thing wont load.

I created a boot disk and when I put the boot disk in it works fine, but as soon as I take it out the L 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 error comes up again.

This is like the 25th time I reinstalled. Nothing seem to work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Could Bulbous please direct me to the thread that you mentioned in your message.

Appreciate all the help

I could do, but it's got nothing to do with your problem. I'm having my own, different, problems, and the bootloader works fine for me. If you still want to know, it's called 'multiple problems installing Mandrake' on this forum.
