output in file /mnt/boot/grub/device.map failed: Stale NFS file handle
...propagated.

Is your working version 2009.1? If so, an easier way to look at partition contents is to use diskdrake. Call it as root from terminal or start Mandriva Control Center and go to Local Disks, Manage disk partitions. After clicking on a partition, choose 'View' from the menu at the right. It might be the 32-bit / is somewhere besides sda7.

Ok, called, diskdrake from root terminal. Clicked on the 32 partition, and it shows me my home folder from my 64 bit, and gives this error in the terminal:

(diskdrake:8187): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: cannot connect to the session bus: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Did you look at other partitions?

If you mounted sda7 and found that to be just a separate /home parition then your system files (if any exist for the 32 bit) have to be on sda8 or sda10. So use the same commands you used for sda7 to mkdir, mount, etc... to view files.

Your menu.lst entry for the 32 bit has the line 'configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst' which is not often used but obviously points to the menu.lst file which in turn points to its kernel to boot. Unfortunately, you can't seem to find the /boot directory which would contain these files. Try the other partitions or you could just try a chainloading entry for each of the other partitions in succession:

root (hd0,7)
chainloader +1

if that fails try:

root (hd0,9)
chainloader +1

do these obviously in your 64 bit menu.lst.

Hi there, thank you, I tried that. Unfortunately, no luck. I wouldn't mind reinstalling, I have my home folder still, I just would really like to not have to reinstall all of my programs and change settings etc. Is there a way I can do that? Or some other way I can reinstall GRUB, or make the reinstall of GRUB from the Mandriva CD work correctly (and not give the error I described above)? Thanks.
