problems after mandrake update

hi all,

a few days ago i updated my mandrake 9.1 via mandrakeupdate. there where several patches e.g. gdm, gnome, etc.
after the update during reboot my computer couldn't start the gdm no more. it booted to tty1 and console-login. after loggin on i could start X and everthing was fine!

furthermore are all characters gone that are called via <altgr>, like the (at).
neither <ctrl>+<alt> nore <alt>+064 are working!

what has happend to my system???

startx then try either one of these as root:
/usr/sbin/gdmconfig
/usr/sbin/gdmsetup

thx for help, didn't work

wrote down the error message:
server-authentication directory is /var/lib/gdm, but dosn't exist
please correct gdm configuration in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf and restart gdm

well the directory does exist, there are even files in, so what do i have to change in the gdm.conf???
