Problem mounting usb zip after disconnect

I disconnected a usb zip-100 drive to use on a second machine, but when I reattached it I get:

mount: according to mtab, none is already mounted on /mnt/zip

whenever I try to mount it.

Hi,

Which command do you use to mount / umount the zip on the first computer ?
You may have some problem with a bad umount.

Which command you use on the second one ?
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/zip
The device depend of you material (try ' fdisk -l ' to get a full list of the available drives)

If the mounted device is not in the fstab or mttab, the ' mount /mnt/zip ' will not work

The first computer, the one I switched to from mine, runs MacOS 8.6 and it mounted fine. I tried mounting and unmounting as root, which was the only way mount worked, and I still can't read it.

To mount I use /mnt/zip since the /dev is a name about ten directories long. I'll try to copy and paste the device to check that out.

I did the most obvious thing and unmounted "none" and it worked. I feel like an idiot for not doing it sooner.
