This is not working for me.....

I tried smb://username:@server/printername, but it still would print...

in fact, if I do the following in command line:

# smbspool smb://Guest:@192.168.0.12/PP1250W 5 nobody title 1 printers.conf
ERROR: cli_session_request() failed...
ERROR: Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...

I have also try to replace Guest: with another combination of usernameassword....no luck there...

Help?

I should add that....in my windows machine I type in the address bar:
\\192.168.0.3 where the ip is my linux machine...and I can see a list of printers for the linux machine...basically couple of pdf printers....

and if I run LinNeiborhood, I can also see all the share on my winxp, in fact, there is no smbmounting windows-shares on my linux machine...but it just wouldn't print....

Can printdrake auto detect the printer on the xp box? This is how I got it to work. I could not get cups to work for me.

I did have to change ( play with ) the settings after the auto detect.

In the user account on the xp box try it without a password ( this is a dummy account I set up).

I was getting the same error:

Quote:
ERROR: Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...
It took me about twenty tries before I got it right.
