Post kernel upgrade issues in Mdk10C
Greetings, everybody.
I just completed my first custom kernel compile. I wanted to see what kinds of stability and speed gains I might encounter by going from Mandrake's custom 2.6.2-3mdk kernel to my own Athlon-optimized kernel. It does in fact seem a bit faster and more stable, however a few unexpected things are different:
1.) My automount or supermount capabilities appear to have been part of a mandrake custom kernel patch as there are still initialization attempts for this during boot but a kernel error says something about too many filesystems enabled or supermount not included (I can't recall exactly right now).
2) (and related to 1, above)...I can use K3B to burn disks, and could even watch DVD's with Ogle but most applications can't see disks and my CD icons on my desktop won't mount a disk even when I manually right click the icon and select "mount".
Any ideas on how to fix this, or should I just revert to using 2.6.2? I really would like to learn more about customizing the kernel, so I prefer to learn how to upgrade so I can continue to do so in the future.
Thanks!
PS> I forgot to mention that I upgraded to 2.6.4 final
