It's been a while since the last post, so I thought I would chime in.
I recently installed Mandriva Linux Free 2006 on a home-built system with the following:
- 166 MHz Intel Pentium (with MMX) CPU
229 Mb total RAM - consisting of one 128 Mb PC-100 DIMM and 96 Mb total of PC-66 SIMMs).
I selected a simple installation: network, multimedia, KDE desktop, no servers. The base installation (before updates) took only 45 minutes to install on this system. I have never seen anything install so fast on this particular system.
