Question No sound from KsCD or Win TV

Just installed Mandrake 9, I have Soud Blaster Live and no sound coming through these apps. How do I troubleshoot this?

OK not takers yet but some more information. When I go to KDE Sound server-->General Tab and TEST, I do get sound, so much so it almost blew me away becuase my volume was too loud, so I know that the driver is working and so is the card. Still no sound in the apps, KsCD or WIN TV card. Any takers

As far as the wintv card, all I can offer is I found with mine I have to use a patch cable from the sound out on the tvtuner card to the mic in on the sound card. Mine does not work in the sound card line in feed.

For Kscd this may or may not help. First remember, it is for playing store bought cd's. Store bought cd's unlike mp3 cd's can not play through any cd player on your computer unless that cd player has the sound wire plugged into the cd player and into the sound input on your motherboard or sound card. Same as in Windows.
I can't be of much more help than that because it has been ages since I used Mandrake 9.0. Therefore I don't remember if I used Kscd then or another app for store bought music. In the new Mandrake 10.1, I found Kscd is not working on my machine, but a new multimedia player called Kaffeine does play my store bought music with no fuss. Needless to say I'm using what works.

One last thought, I can't remember which version it was but I seem to remember one of them installed with the sound mixer muted. I know you said the test makes sound but the test may bypass the mute for testing purposes. Pull up Kmix or whatever mixer you have and make sure it is not muted.

Thanks Lakota!
Ues the cd is "store bought" and I had checked the mixers for muted out. I will try the line out from the TV card to the line in on the sound, although there is an internal cable connecting the two cards now. Thanks for taking a whack at this.
