new install needs software to Setup Dialup

Hi, I recently installed Mandriva 2009.1 which seems to come off the
DVD with no kernel source or headers, which I will need if I am to setup
conexant modem. I have another linux distro available from which I could
possibly chroot into the new install and update the package manager, if
I knew what commands to use, somewhat similarly to using apt-get if the
new distro used synaptic. Or alternatively, does anyone know how to
manually download individual packages from the Mandriva mirrors. Any
help appreciated.

If you have internet connection you can add the online repositories using Configure your computer--> Configure media sources for install and update.

Or you can download the kernel-source that matches your current running kernel here: http://rpm.pbone.net use the Advanced search function.

Or you can use either of the locations in my signature to setup your online repositories.

To build third-party modules, you usually only require the appropriate kernel-*-devel package (on the DVD) corresponding to your running kernel. You only need the full sources if you want to re-compile the kernel itself.
