Hi i've freshly instaled MDK10.0 and my mouse doesn't work! i've configured it during the instalation but it wasn't working. i'm only the keyboard, if someone has any clue just let a message!
Have you tried to configure you mouse with the mandrake control center (open a terminal, su root and then mcc OR star > system > setup > setup your computer > hardware) ?
Nota bene : "CTRL + SHIFT + Numlock" allows you to use your numpad as a mouse.
i've tried to configure my mouse with all driver that was indicate for a ps/2 mouse and nothing my mouse is a logitech cordless mouseman ps/2... does it make a diference?
As I recall you have to select special drivers for the Logitech Mouseman serires... -Just think I remember something about seeing them in the menus... It is really weird that the numlock-thing didn't work though... Make sure numlock is on before you hit ctrl-shift-numlock...
I've got the same problem with my logitech mouse. It's just an optical mouse with scroll wheel.
I've tried everything possible in mcc, but whatever mouse i install there (universal: any usb/ps/2; ps/2 generic ps2 wheel mouse; standard mouse enz). It's a ps/2 mouse and i run Mandrake 10 official, kernel 2.6.3-7, xfree86 4.3 patch level 30; and the updated nvidia drivers.
I also changed the XF86Config-4:
I tried besides "ExplorerPS/2" also "IMPS/2" and "PS/2" but it all didn't work. The cursor just won't move. With the numpad the cursor works perfectly but i prefer the real mouse :-P
The majority of people haven't had any problems with any mice. It's most probably a hardware problem. Try a usb to ps2 adapter and see if that works. I've loaded 35 systems so far with MDK10. All types of optical mice 1 serial and 1 real ps2 no problems. All different Manf from dell to home built. I've never had to do anything to any config file for a mouse. They just work out of the box. So I do suspect some type of hardware problem.
