Hi,
I was trying to information on this please help I have ran chown lfs $LFS/sources and on tools I have also cd'ed into the directory of sources.

I used this website for reference.

So I needed to unpack binutils and than cd into the folder. I did not see that instruction in LFS, I would have at least thought they would have for the first package.

This is mentioned in the LFS book: 5.3. General Compilation Instructions

Second Important box, point 3b. Also have a look at 3d and 3e, these steps are crucial as well.
