It can't be on ntfs drive. You must use a linux filesystem or vfat. Sorry I didn't mention that.

Since you don't have the hard drive anyway I would just wait. You might try MandrakeMove if you want to get a feel for what you'll be getting into.

Good Luck.

<edit> MandrakeMove is also a good way to check your hardware for compatibility issues.

You could purchase a copy of Mdk10 official from a third party vendor. I am not a club member either an already have my copy of MDk10 official I purchased online.

Before I spend the time downloading all the files (rather than waiting for the isos) and try this, I'd like to sanity check the idea

1. In windows XP, download the entire i586 directory and burn the contents onto a DVD-R (assuming it'll fit, which it should).
2. Burn images/boot.iso to a CD.
3. Boot off the boot.iso CD and install off the DVD.

Does that seem reasonable and sensible to you folks? Or am I overlooking something?

I've never done it that way and that is not listed as one of the install options. I have all the files and a DVD drive but I don't have a DVD burner so I can't tell you for sure.

BTW in case anyone cares, it doesnt work.
I'll either wait for the ISOs to go public or (re)install the community release and then use the downloaded files to do an upgrade...
Think I might just wait and hopefully fix all my troubles in one fell swoop (i live in hope).
