MDK 10.1 hangs on install

Hi all

Im having a bit of a problem getting version 10.1 installed. After booting of the CD (or DVD) I get the screen to press enter to install or F1 for more options. I press enter and the screen goes black, and thats all she wrote. This happens with the i586 and 64bit version on CD and DVD. I can read/write both CDs and DVDs under windows, so Im not thinking its the optical drive. It also does this with different hard disks.

basic hardware profile

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Asus A8V Deluxe
1 GB Corsair PC3200
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
NEC DVD-RW

Maybe one of you nice MDK users can shed some light on the subject

If any additional information is needed, I will do my best to get it.

try booting will CD2 and choose "alternate cd" i think thats what it calls it

No go

same result as with CD 1. FC3 installed OK. Thats better than using windows anyway

Go to the BIOS and try disabling some sort of USB Legacy Device option, or something close to that.
