I've gotten MDK 9.1 installed, and, total newbie that I am, I feel lucky that it went so well.

The only problem is that the MCC persists in configuring my Verizon ADSL (via ethernet, no router) as ISDN. Using ADSL-config from a terminal seems to do the same thing.

The system recognizes the NIC; at least I can ping 127.0.0.1. I have no trouble connecting from the Win 98 dual-boot side.

I'll be very grateful for any advice from the wise heads who contribute to this forum--

I have found that it is a lot easier to setup the internet connection during the install on the summary page. If you can not get any help, you may want to try it that way. You will need to hit "F1" and then type in at the prompt "expert". Otherwise it will just basically leave it the way it was with a new boot entry. In the expert mode you will have the option to re-install fresh.

Wait and see if you can get some help first. Someone with DSL may can help you with this.

Oh, if you installed the Documentation there is a how to in there that may help. Looks like a life preserver. How appropriate. ha ha ha

Thanks for responding, Dalek. In the Expert mode I get the same result. The documentation hasn't helped--except that I've learned quite a bit about other aspects of Linux--so I think I'll go fishing in the Networking or Newbie forums.

I didn't know 24k still existed. With your rig's horsepower you would love broadband.
