Tried LinuxMint too. The problem with it was the perl programming. I could not find some of the packages that come with
other distros like Mageia and Mandriva by default. Other than that I liked it very much.

I would find it rather strange to change the distro just because of some package not installed by default.

Tried both Ubuntu and Kubuntu their perl packages are the worst I've seen. I can't remember all the problems I had with those distros but they drove me away after a couple of days and I've been using Mandriva since 6.1 So if I can't get everything I need to work after a couple of days it not for me.

how about Slackware?
people said slackware is the most long lasting linux, the earliest linux.

Even you hijacked my thread let me inform Kubuntu = Ubuntu + KDE(same case for Xubuntu Lubuntu so on) so for future don't waste time downloading 2 *buntu You need just 1 *buntu to have them all.

kubuntu and ubuntu not exactly the same.
