Wow, you gave up quickly didn't you. Maybe you shouldn't claim Linux sucks but instead learn the basics of something before diving in too deep of something you clearly don't know anything about.

Commands to get familiar with in linux to add users, etc.

useradd
usermod
groupadd
groupmod

Don't depend on a GUI tool to get things going in Linux, the command line is very powerful and you should learn to edit or configure your system manually, familiarize yourself with the particular config files for your system and so on.

Yeah I used linux in college to do some c++ programming. I agree that i dont know much about linux and am not willing to learn text commands. Either I am going to throw the machine out the window or use windows.

I'd say if your too lazy to learn basic commands, well then Linux isn't for you and you might as well throw it out the window, cause myself, I never depend on the gui tools to configure my system as many that are server based don't even have X installed.

The command line is very powerful and it only becomes second nature to learn to use your system from it. I won't be the one to beg you to stay, if that's your choice, well then, you were made for Windows.

So your saying all i have to do is a user add to add an ftp account? What about directories and read write permissions. Do u have do use all that chmod /d ect stuff. I know some basic ls make commands from data structures. So your saying everything currently running in linux can be modified from the command line?

P.S. I do like dos!

Yes, you can create FTP accounts by adding accounts to your system. Or it may be possible to add them to the configuration file for your FTP server, depending on which one your using.

useradd (no spaces) adds users.

man useradd for more options and to read the man page. You can read the man page for every command on your system by issuing man in front of it.

Yes, chmod is used to change the permissions of directories, files, etc.

Everything can be configured by command in Linux, what do you think those GUI tools are doing for you, just running the commands for you behind the scenes, etc.

Logged in as root, cd into your / directory and press tab twice.. it will display all the available commands on your system, there will probably be over 2,000 available. That's probably about 1900 more than DOS ever had...
