Mandrake 9.2 hangs at "searching for module dependencies" right after install

Ok, MDK9.2 on my second hdd (20gb) in my system. / is ext3, /usr is reiserfs, /home is reiserfs. I have a MSI K7N2 Delta-L mobo, 512mb RAM, ATI Radeon 9700Pro, and an aureal 2 card (for the joystick/midi port). On the first reboot it hangs at "searching for module dependencies". I left it on over night to see if it would just take a long time (my installation was almost 3gb).

Might it matter that I have a USB mouse?

If this doesn't work then I might have to give gentoo a shot on this machine.

RedHat 9.0 worked fine btw, and my gentoo seemed to have some issues with the stage1 tarball....I have never had this many problems with a system and linux before...
<edit>just reinstalled 9.2 and it worked fine...go figure
