Your post provides the solution. It includes the following warning:
Quote:
WARNING: `automake-1.9' is missing on your system. You should only need it if
you modified `Makefile.am', `acinclude.m4' or `configure.in'.
You might want to install the `Automake' and `Perl' packages.

This warning informs us that automake-1.9 is missing on your system. Since the configure phase went well, you did modify 'configure.in', so you need automake-1.9 installed on your system.
I looked up ksmoothdock at <A HREF="http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=6585">kde-apps.org</A> and found the following notes:
Quote:
NOTE***:
It seems that automake-1.9 is not backward compatible with automake-1.7, so please upgrade to automake-1.9 before you compile KSmoothDock 4.3. To check the version of automake on your system, run:
automake --version
TO INSTALL: Unzip, cd to the directory ksmoothdock-4.3_automake1.9 then run:
./configure
make
su
make install
Then run:
ksmoothdock
(if when you run "ksmoothdock", nothing happens, then it is likely that your KDE dir is not standard. In this case, either:
- cd to the directory ksmoothdock-4.3_automake1.9/src, then run "./ksmoothdock", or
- Re-do the above sequence (./configure ...), but instead of "./configure", type:
./configure --prefix=/YOUR_KDE_DIR
)

The author is informing us that we should upgrade to automake 1.9 if we have automake 1.7 installed. Use the Mandriva package manager to check that the correct automake package is installed. The one you need should be listed as 'automake1.8-1.9.6-3mdk'. To find a specific package in the package manager, simply enter the name ( e.g. automake) in the find box near the top of the widow, then click the 'Search' button.
You should also check that the perl package is installed (it should usually be installed since other Mandriva software depends on it).
HTH,
