Unhappy KDE start menu breaked on a self-compiled KDE

I have a Mandriva 2005 LE with KDE 3.4.3 compiled from sources using konstruct. At the beginning, all was OK, but after installing some new packages using urpmi, the KDE start menu is near to be empty (except for the Applications entry which contains tens or hundreds entries filling more than the screen).

I found info about running update-menu but it seems to look only at RPMs content.

Similarly the KDE control center (kcontrol) is completely empty.

How can I rebuild the K Menu and refill the control center from my installed KDE ?

Thanks

Kleag

Try making a symlink from ~/.kde/share/applnk to ~/.kde/share/applnk-mdk

ln -vs ~/.kde/share/applnk-mdk ~/.kde/share/applnk

You may need to log out of kde for the change to take effect.

No luck

Thanks for your help, but it did not work.

In fact, there was no applnk-mdk on my system (I did not install KDE at system install time), only /usr/share/applnk that contains all the good .desktop files and $HOME/.kde/share/applnk that was empty. I randomly tried to create reverse links to applnk-mdk but it did not work.

Any more ideas ?

Try running kmenuedit and kcontroledit.
