After the KDE 3.3 upgrade I can't edit the menus. If I right click on the k menus button and select menudrake., it starts loading the menu and then it stops. If I try to run it form the console I get a segmentation error when it tries to load the menu. I have tried to run update-menus-v iwth the same result.
Wierd things started to happen:
kdm was not working any more (fixed)
unable to edit the menus using menudrake. (not fixed!!)
I don't thing I was prepared to that upgrade, therefore I decided to go back to mandrake 10.0 official and wait until mandrake 10.1 comes out and then I'll check it out (hopefully it will come with kde 3.3 right of the bat.
I don;t blame mandrake though. I think that with more mandrake knowledge I think I would have been able to fix that problem.
First, I logon as root (at first the keyboard wasn't working at the login window but after restarting the X server it worked but after the session starts it is back to not working). went into mandrake control server and on system, display manager selected xdm instead of kdm and it worked. if you don;t have or have to install it, then you shold find a way to boot directly into the console and download it from a urmpi resource....
I had to do a reinstall of Linux. I did the konstruct thing and everything compiled and installed correctly. I did what the readme on the KDE install page said to do but I still can't get it to start KDE 3.3 It always starts the 3.2 that came with it. What am I missing?
I had to create the .xsession file in my home directory.
