How do you know it is up? Ping?
A short time ago I connected a PC to my home network for the first time and installed Fedora. When I opened the browser it seemed to not connect to the internet. I pinged my firewall and that was connected. I pinged a website (by name) and found that also showed connected.
I wound up rebooting everything. I think the reboot of the firewall PC was what got the connection going correctly.
Don't know what kind of setup you have but maybe try a reboot/restart of your equipment while the Linux PC is on.
Good Luck.

Chances are that you screwed it up yourself.

Unfortunately you didn't tell us at all what's actually
happening, but managed to do so in about 4 or 5
independent threads. It's almost like at work, someone
rings up and says "The internet isn't working!" - DUH.
"The internet is up, but I can't browse". How did you
establish that "the internet is up", and by which means
did you find out that only brosing is broken? Is it name
resolution, can you access any hosts by IP? Are you
behind a firewall/proxy?

There's quite a few means for diagnostics you could
have taken to describe what's going on. And a statement
like the above after an alleged use of Linux of over 3
years probably means that you're not ready for even
a newbie friendly distro like Mandriva.

Cheers,
Tink

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
