I can't get drake control center up at all. It says it ain't there.
I tried to install some updated rpms, all having to do with drakextools, drake conf, hardrake... I am trying to get my internet up, and I was told I should update these...
The installations failed on the packages, and it broke the control center.
Now, I can't seem to overwrite my existing Mandrake 9.1 install, because the bootloader (floppy) says that I need to change disks and try again. I do this, and no luck.
try (as root) "rpm -e drakconf" (which removes) and then "urpmi drakconf" to get back to the default. Unless you've setup urpmi to get packages from ftp servers, it'll ask for a Mandrake install cd.
The program that actually runs is '/usr/sbin/drakconf.real'.
If you can find it there try entering in a shell:
kdesu /usr/sbin/drakconf.real
If there is another problem which causes the program not to run,
you often get a description of what the problem was by starting the program from the shell. This can eliminate a lot of guess work.
I am also having problems with MCC and drakconf. When I enter "rpm -e drakconf in a terminal I get "package drakconf is not installed". When I then enter "urpmi drakconf" I get the message "bash: urpmi: command not found". I am in the terminal window as root (su & password) but cannot get any response to urpmi.
Any help appreciated.
Try "urpme drakconf" instead, that should automatically search, I should have suggested that in the first place.
But if somehow urpmi isn't there or isn't in your path, something is wrong. Try typing "echo $PATH" (as root). If /usr/sbin is not listed, do "export PATH=$PATH:/usr/sbin"
then try again.

also please use more useful thread titles, thanks.
I had no luck with "urpme drakconf" but give below a copy of "echo PATH"
[stan@localhost stan]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost stan]# urpme drakconf
bash: urpme: command not found
[root@localhost stan]# echo $PATH
/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin
[root@localhost stan]#
Any further suggestions as to where I go from here appreciated.
I would suggest loading the CD that has the urpm package, you will have to search for it since I don't know which CD it would be on most likely the first ( I installed off a DVD ). Then just use rpm to install that. Once you get that installed the other suggestions should work.
I have a package "urpmi-4.2-33mdk noarch.rpm" on CD1 and if this is the right one could you please give me some guidance on how to install this without MCC.
