If Mandriva is based on Redhat then you can find out what lvm2 packages are installed and available by running:

yum list lvm2

If there is a newer version shown available than the one installed you can update by running:

yum update lvm2

The Mandriva command line tool for packages : urpm*
http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Tools/urpmi

# urpmi lvm2 : Installs lvm2

If you want a later version, not provided by your OS,
you could build a new package from e.g. the 2012 src.rpm
> lvm2-2.02.96-3.src.rpm "20-Jul-2012"
http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/pub/.../main/release/
> http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/pub/...2.96-3.src.rpm

.

I have instaled the last version of lvm2 on Mandriva 2010 with urpmi.

Thanks for the idea to build the latest source rpm lvm2.
