How to Manage Laptop Power in Mandrake 10.1 ?

hi

I have recently switched from Windows to Linux (Mandrake 10.1). I need to know how to manage the laptop power effectively. My battery used to run for app 3 hrs (during the windows days) and now it is switched off in 1.5 hrs (ever since I have switched to Linux).

Is there someway I can manage the power utilization effectively ?

Thanks
Atul

Make sure that either APM or ACPI is enabled for the kernel and also the corresponding daemons are run at boot.

You'll need to first determine which one your laptop uses by referring to it's documentation.
