How do I boot from the black terminal screen?

I got my dual boot xp with Mandrae 10.1 to work and I was fiddling with the boot loader in the preferences in KDE and I somehow turned off the loading part for the Desktop. All I would get is the LILO boot screen, I select Linux and press Enter, then i type in my usrname/pass. Thenit just gives me like a command line type of thing...completely black.

Is there like a /boot command or /linux (as in win 98 was /win) or something?

I looked thru the 'help' but couldn't find, and there isn't any topics on this (i searched 3x).

Could anyone lend me the magic word for booting? Thanks sooo much....it took me 2 whole days to figre out how to dual boot and it would always stuck at "Checking PCMCIA..." and it would freeze...then i figured out how to disable that part and I got past it...now I am stuck at a black blinking screen!

try: "startx"
at the prompt after loging in

then you can look in the file:
"/etc/inittab"
for a this line:
"id:3:initdefault:"
if there is a 3 in there change it to a 5 like this:
"id:5:initdefault:"
then it should work next time
