Ive recently installed madriva 2006 and everything seems to be going fine other than a constant crackling/boiling soup sound coming from the sound card when in mandriva. My audio setup runs fine in windows and I am at a loss to explain why I cannot get any other sound in mandriva other than this cosntant crackling/boiling soup noise!

Im using an EMU10K2 Audigy Audio Processor with the driver ‎snd-emu10k1 module, setup by default when mandriva installed.

Ive used the alsamixer command in the terminal to make sure im running analog and not digital out etc but to no avail.


Any ideas?

In Suse there is a gui for the mixer. Have you checked to see that everything is on that should be. Suse sometimes turnes the sound off in alsamixer, and I have to reset everything. Maybe Mandriva has messed your settings?
