Gnome not working with 9.2 fresh install
Hi, just installed Mandrake 9.2 (downloaded isos) to replace my RedHat 9.0 box because RedHat is changing to the no more free support route.
Hardware is a P3 400 64MB RAM IDE 10GB Harddrive
Anyhow, I had tried Mandrake before (8.1 and 9.0) and liked those so I figured that 9.2 would be a good way to go. I use this as a file server (and a Domain Controller via Samba 3) and so I generally don't use runlevel 5 (set to start at 3).
But, sometimes I do like to get into X and do some things (usually internet related) and so when I installed it I installed it with the Gnome Workstation option. The first time I started X I went into Ice, I figured just a setting wrong so the next time I used Xtart to get into X (instead of startx) and there was no option for Gnome listed.
So I reinstalled 9.2 fresh and.... same thing!
Another reinstall with KDE and Gnome, KDE is there but still no Gnome!
All the updates from the secsup.org mirror are installed and still I have no Gnome. Anyone have any ideas? They would be greatly appreciated.
