I am using it to download SuSE 8.2. And toward the bottom of the screen is a box that gives you the list of files and progress of the download. Now if I use the up and down arrows to scroll through the list the file being dlownloaded is displayed several times, but if I use the wheel mouse at displays just fine.

It doesn't do this all the time, I can't seem to find at tiggers it to do this. Restarting X helps sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

I am using an ATI 128 Rage video card and a display of 1024 X 768 on a 17" monitor.

Could be some sort of bug. Maybe try to download a later version if available to see if that clears up the problem. If its intermittant though like you said, could just be the bug though and I'd report it to the developers of it.

This may be more of a video driver problem. I have noticed that some times the fonts don't display well with Opera. I have noticed this before with Opera on Linux.

If I up the arrows to scroll it has the problem, but if I then use the wheel mouse it fixes it. Also if I minimize the widows and then maximize it, it fixes it.

It also appears to correct itself if I disconnect from the ftp site and then reconnect.
