fonts... my eternal foe

i'm really getting tired of this.

i just want to play some ********* counterstrike. i have gone in software update.. browse available software.. every possible updater i can find. including the desktops updater, kde's... every place i see the word font on this damn system i have tried. and no matter how many times i install truetype fonts, they just don't show up.. steam keeps coming up taunting me with it's blankness. wine is working fine. notepad pops up totally ok, opens any .txt's i have. and the steam INSTALLER is even legible. for some reason they load with a weird lin font. but once i hit the steam setup/register part... just argh.

could someone PLEASE help me with this. i haven't heard a shot fired in anger in weeks.

that didn't help :l

i read the whole thing, but this is the only relevant part, and it's wrong.

For KDE applications, you should select ``Anti-alias fonts'' in the ``Fonts'' panel of KDE's ``Control Center''. Note that this option is misnamed: it switches KDE to using Xft but doesn't enable anti-aliasing in case it was disabled by your Xft configuration file.

that option "anti-alias fonts" is not in the control center font manager.

i just can't figure out why this is so hard. the fonts are on the disc. i see them there when i do browse available software. i install them as root, but still nothing. they just don't show up. when i go in the font manager through the control panel and click "get windows fonts" it just hangs for about 5 minutes, then says that basically it's just not gonna happen.

can someone PLEASE help me with this.

The kde font manager is under the menu

k->configuration->kde->lookNfeel->fonts

it doesn't meant the font manager in the Mandrake Control Centre
