FIXED, 2006, SLOW printing with parrellel HP4L
I have a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4L (pre usb, non PS,Dated Dec 1993)
I have had slow printing for a bit so I performed a clean install to test each item.
I immediately ran Mandriva-update.
Selected All updates.
I was presented with a text that discussed changes. It started by discussing DrakX, the the migration of a Conectiva 10 system.
I read the whole file to be sure I was aware of anything applying to my system.
It mentioned that an update to hplip would require recreation of my installed printer to take adventage of the new driver.
before changing (lpr /etc/fstab), it started printing in 4 seconds.
I deleted the installed printer as guided and reinstalled it.
tested printing again (lpr /etc/fstab) it took 2 minutes to start printing.
I performed another clean install (same pkg selection) and when I ran Mandriva-update this time I selected all but hplip related updates.
my printer still prints in 4 seconds.
Origionally I thought it was a KDE error, Sepcifically the upgrade to sos-KDE3.5. This proves it was not. Apollogies to Hawkwind.
