I wonder fi there's a FireFox rpm package for konsole installation. I have search on google but couldn't find any except for the tar ball file offered at GetFirefox.com
Since I am kind of new to the worl of linux. Could someone point me to the right direction on how to install Firefox from source? Thanks.
d00d the tarball contains the bin file for installing firefox.
just get the tarball and type : tar -zxvf firefox-1.0.4.installer.tar.gz
then : cd firefox-installer
and finally : ./firefox-installer-bin
the gui will pop up, and all you have to do is hit next, i accept, next, next, finish .. and your done ...
this tarball isn't a source package where you have to compile it..
Well, really, you can stick it anywhere. Do all users have access to /home/username? If they have read/execute access, it should be fine. I stick mine in /home. In the past I've stuck it in usr/bin. Really, you can put it wherever's convenient.
One logical place for it would be /usr/local/firefox. I delete the "-installer" from the suggested directory name. The /home/username was suggested simply because that is where you downloaded and ran the installation binary. I think that a firefox RPM installed it to /opt/mozilla-firefox/. You may want to add firefox's lib directory to the ld.so.config file and run "ldconfig", or produce shortcuts to the needed library files. You may also need to alter your PATH variable to include the firefox bin directory, if the installer doesn't do that.

It means the file isn't there. Try going to rpmfind.net and searching for libxpcom.so, then check the results for the correct Linux distro.
