error:mount:fs type supermount not supported by kernel.
hi,
I compiled the new kernel 2.6.5 for mandrake 10,it is booting but there is
an errors in the boot sequence:
mounting local filesystems:mount:fs type supermount not supported by kernel
mounting other filesystems:mount:fs type supermount not supported by kernel
when i want to mount floppy there is also this error"mount:fs type supermou
nt not supported by kernel".
plz help me how and where i can enable this option.
Get and apply the supermount patch for your kernel and recompile, or disable supermount from the Mandrake control panel (the stuff will have to be mounted manually).
Supermount has been disabled as a default option in Mandrake 10 since it was nothing but trouble. The reason you're getting the error messages is because, when booting, the kernel reads the contents of /etc/fstab and tries to mount the filesystems it finds there. It sounds as though your fstab has supermount entries in it and, since supermount has been disabled, it's running into errors.
Post the contents of your /etc/fstab file here and we'll fix it for you.
The Mandrake control panel should make the appropriate fstab changes when you uncheck the supermount option.

Unfortunately, they only have patches for the 2.6.1 and 2.6.2 kernels. I saw a 2.6.4 patch on one of the sites they linked to, maybe you can find a 2.6.5 patch on one of those sites.
hi,
you can find this path here: http://warder.ath.cx:81/projects.php
for applying patch i first decompressed the patch from the tar then copied only the supermount patch to the kernel 2.6.5 source directory , and apllied with patch -p1 < supermount _patch, and it was successful.
