I receive the following error when i boot up Mandriva LE 2005 on my laptop. This comes after i made a hard power off(because the screen had frozen).

fsck.ext2/:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

When i try to run the Mandriva installation program to upgrade the system, i get "Root partition not found"
Any help is greatly appreciated. I have the system setup perfectly and it'd be very very difficult for me to do that again.

. /etc/fstab was filled with names of modules, i restored it. I thought i had had a look at it before, but apparently i had looked into the fstab of the rescue disk.
