DVD problems


hi (says newbie)

i have just installed mandrake 9.1 and i can't get dvd's to play.

problem:

mplayer hangs and keeps reading the dvd
it wont even let me eject the disk.
i then have to kill the process.


any help please

oh yer

is there a linux "equivalant" to ALCHOHOL 120%?
and can any one sugest a good (but fare priced) modem i am stuck with that ESS garbage at the moment

get the REAL version of mplayer from http://mplayerhq.hu and if you still have problems, please provide some more detailed information about the issue you are having.

i think the problem is more from the css libs included in mplayer, get the REAL css , search google for libcss and install them then reinstall mplayer and it should work fine , it dd for me

no chance, the css libs in mplayer ARE the real deal with some additional features, won't affect it at all.

I was able to get DVD playback through mplayer by simply downloading and installing libdvdcss from here:
