I suppose I should have been a little more specific about my query, I know how to configure it, but how do I configure it in MDK?

option 1) go to mcc choose boot then choose boot loader and choose grub instead of lilo and look at your options such as acpi=off

option 2) http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=8629 not for the faint hearted and assumes you have a broken boot loader

umm, leave it unticked at this stage. But sometimes old BIOS stuff don't work too well with grub.

lba tries to avoid some of these bios limitations. for now try compact for faster boot and when you have time make one change at A TIME and see what difference it makes.
