Compatability with SATA/RAID

Hey, sorry for the (probable) simplicity of this question, but do you know if Mandriva 2007 has much support for a SATA hard-drive? I tried installing the previous version (and Slackware) on it but neither would recognise the hard-drive. I have the third party drivers, but there was no option to use them. So, before I waste more time trying with the new version.... is it going to work?

Thank-you in advance,

James
