Changing refresh rate in Control Center?

I do not see any option in the Mandrake Control Center to adjust the screen refresh rate. I looked in "Configure your monitor" and "Change the screen resolution." Then I went to "Look at and configure that hardware," selected my video card, and clicked "Run config tool." None of these had an option to chance the screen refresh rate. Where can this be?

the best way set refresh rates in the control centre is to pick your monitor manufacturer and model from the list of monitors. That tells X what refresh rates your monitor will accept. If your monitor refresh rates are not high enough then you need to lower your colour depth and resolution.

If your monitor is not listed then you have to edit the xorg.conf file. To do that you need to know the hor. and vert. refresh rates for your monitor and enter them in the Monitor Section. X will automatically boot with the best refresh rates for the colour depth and resolution that you select.

There's a KDE applet in System\Configuration\Hardware called screen resolution or something like that. Launch and a small icon will appear on the Kicker's notification area. Right click on it and you can change resolution and refresh rate.

Remember that if you select a higher refresh rate than the one specified for your Monitor, you may fry your video card.
