Question cdrdao intergration into k3b

Hello I'm just starting out with Linux mdk 9.2 I like it so far but I'm having some problems installing programs. I installed k3b 0.11 and when it starts is stated cannot find cdrdao executable so I downloaded the program cdrdao 1.1.7 bin.x86.linux.tar.bz2 then I right clicked it to execute and installed it into my download directory perfectly but now I can't figure out how to install into into K3b?? I have executable cdrdao(gear symbol) toc2cue (gear symbol) toc2mp3 (gear symbol) I already tried chmod 755 <filename> and then ./<fiename> it does not work it only gives me a list of uses. So how can I integrate cdrdao into K3b??? All help is much appreciated.

try this, open up a terminal and type this:

su

the it will ask for your root password, then enter it. next:

urpmi k3b

then it will automatically resolve dependencies and ask you to insert your installation disks and install it for you.

ciao

Will this work even if my download of cdrdao is not an rpm? The download is a tar.bz2 file. There was not a rpm file I could find anywhere for this.

Dude go to my site and take a look at this, it should help you, just follow what I've done, look at the commands I've issued in my terminal, do the same in the same order and it will ask you for your install cd's. The only difference is that i have both packages installed already from install disks

im a little confused as to how u did ur install, if u installed the "kde package" surely be default it would have installed k3b, i mean, k3b is now part of kde imo, it only makes sense that on a default install it would be there...

download this rpm:

ftp://216.254.0.38/linux/Mandrake/9....-2mdk.i586.rpm

install the rpm either buy clicking it or on the command line you can:

rpm -Uvh filename.rpm

then as root do:

urpmi k3b

and then all should work

I do appreciate all your help sometimes I guess newbies are just hopeless. I installed my KDE environment with the Mandrake 9.2 distro I choose KDE over GNOME so not much input from me there. As far as I can tell all the files for KDE were installed at the initial install time. I downloaded the cdrdao rpm from the link and executed it no problem at all but...... when I urpmi k3b I get the no package found error?????

OK you can call me stupid if you like but I finally figured it out I had to urpmi the complete file name like this urpmi cdrdao1.1.7-2mdk.i586.rpm for it to find the file and work correctly otherwise urpmi cdrdao doesn't work no package found so then I urpmi k3bXXXX.rpm the same way and I received the everything is install message. Many thanks. One new question when I open k3b I have a message that cdrdao does not run with root privileges how do I enable that???
