i removed half my memory to install 9.1. I have done all the updates, except for a few Xfree because of driver problems...would those updates have solved the Problem that stops mandrake from booting with 1GB or more of memory and if not how can i fix that now that i have mandrake installed?
do you really need to recompile the kernel? From what I hear, it's just a little bug in the installer that you can circumvent by passing
vga=0
mandrake itself is fine with 1gig or more of memory.
No I didn't say anything about recompiling he kernel. mdk has one in the contribes already compiled. Go out to the PLF and set your source for contrubis.
i tried stickin the memory back in and the same problem occurs.. the command "Linux vga=0" works for the install but after that your stuck with the flashing caps and scroll lock keys and it wont boot...anyone got any ideas?
i tried the instructions from that web page exactly but i keep getting the same problem...If you look in section 4, step 3 it says to umount /tmp/image. the only problem is every time i do that the unmount command isnt recognized. it says unmount: command not found...i can type mount and see everything that is mounted yet i cant unmount anything...Anyone have any ideas, its driving me insane.
